SUMMER 2008 SESSIONS: Mindy McCord has helped thousands of girls over the past 15 years develop
their games. Now from her position as Director of Lacrosse at Jacksonville
University, she has the critical role of organizing a top-notch Division I
lacrosse program for both women's and men's teams. JU will be
the only Division I lacrosse school featuring both men's and women's
lacrosse in the deep south. McCord has led championship teams in two NCAA
sports (lacrosse and field hockey), has served as a selector for the US National
Women's Lacrosse team, and has been chairperson for the North-South
Senior Collegiate All*Star game. Over the past two years, Coach McCord has
developed her own game, putting together cutting edge curriculum that has
set the south on fire with lacrosse energy. She founded MCCSports, a lacrossedevelopment
company, and partnered with deBeer Lacrosse to bring the game to more kids
than ever before in the South. She is known for being a inexhaustible leader
and a charismatic teacher of the game.
"JU is a culmination of a lifetime of work and passion for the game
of lacrosse. I truly want to make JU's women's and men's
programs shining examples for other southern universities to follow as the
sport explodes in our region. The President and Athletic Director want JU
to become a `lacrosse school' which is very exciting for the state
of Florida. This camp is a reflection of that attitude." Her current work includes: development of Florida's first and only
statewide elite national travel club, the LaxManiax, consulting with Jacksonville
University and other southern-based institutions to help develop NCAA lacrosse
programs, and coaching Nease High School lacrosse. Prior to her arrival as
head coach at Nease High School 3-years ago, the team struggled to have daily
practices. Nearly all of the players had little or no prior lacrosse experience.
Over the past two seasons, Nease has recorded consecutive district championships,
earned a record of 31-10 and state ranking as high as #5. The Lax Maniax Elite
club program has helped more than 30 graduating seniors move on to college
careers.
