Ed Oxlade, a former director of rowing at Oundle School Boat Club in the United Kingdom, enters his first season as an assistant for the JU men's and women's rowing programs.

Oxlade, who brings 22 years of experience as both a competitor and coach, will assist in the coaching of the varsity and novice boats for JU's men's and women's teams.

Oxlade joins the Dolphins after five years as a professional rowing coach and physical education teacher for Oundle School, a prestigious private boarding school near Peterborough, England. In 2006, he guided the program to its first National Championship in 13 years while also directing the club in major national competitions, including Henley Royal Regatta.

He successfully coached two athletes to Junior International Representation in 2005 and 2007 and co-coached England's Junior Men's Eight to victory in the Home Countries International Regatta from 2005 to 2007.

Oxlade was the boat club president for the University of Northumbria, Newcastle upon Tyne from 1996-99 and received his bachelor's degree in exercise science in 1999. He went on to earn his master's in physical education from the University of Surrey, Roehampton in 2002.
