Josh Ellis enters his fourth year as assistant media relations director for Jacksonville University. He assists in all aspects of the media relations office and serves as the primary contact for volleyball, women's basketball, baseball and rowing while also assisting with football. Last year, Ellis served as the contact for women's basketball as the Dolphins enjoyed their best season in program history with a 21-9 record while securing the sixth best turnaround in the nation (+10). He also the contact for baseball as JU earned its fourth Atlantic Sun Conference title and earned an berth in the NCAA Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C. Prior to his second season with JU, he served as interim media relations director by designing and editing all of the Dolphins fall publications, while assisting in the hiring of the media relations staff. Ellis also was instrumental in helping run the NCAA Tournament in Jacksonville during March 2006 and served as the baseball contact during the Dolphins 2006 Atlantic Sun Championship run, which ended with a berth in the NCAA Regionals in Athens, Ga. During his first season at JU, Ellis served as the contact for the Dolphin volleyball team which won the 2004 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's Division I history. A native of Esparto, Calif., Ellis was the media relations assistant at Sacramento State from May 2000 to July 2004. During his time with the Hornets program, he served as the primary contact for women's basketball, baseball, men's & women's soccer, gymnastics and track & field. Ellis also helped coordinate media and results for the 2004 NCAA Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma and the 2003 NCAA Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., while also serving as tournament/media director for the 2004 River City Baseball Tournament, 2003 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Gymnastics Championship and the 2003 MPSF Men's Soccer Championship. Ellis began his career as a member of the Sacramento State student newspaper, The State Hornet, from August 1998 to May 2000. During that time, he worked as a managing editor, sports editor, assistant sports editor and sports reporter. A graduate of Sacramento State in 2001, Ellis earned his B.A. in journalism with also receiving a minor in film.
