Position:
Graduate Assistant - Special Projects

First Year

Former Dolphin baseball player, Logan James, remained at his alma mater to take the position of graduate assistant - special projects for the director of athletics.

Among his duties at JU, James will be responsible for special projects as assigned by the director of athletics as well as leading the effort towards the resurrection of the JU Hall of Fame. In addition, he will be assisting in Atlantic Sun Conference liaison duties, budgeting assignments and different marketing initiatives.

"Logan has a passion for JU and brings a wonderful work ethic to our department," Verlander said. "We have several projects that we need to get off the ground and Logan will play a key role into making these happen. We are fortunate to have him working for us over the next couple of years."

As a student-athlete at JU, James was a starting second baseman and team captain for the Dolphins' as the squad won back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference titles in 2006 and 2007. The Dolphins also earned consecutive NCAA Tournament bids during that span for only the second time in program history (1994-95). In 2006, JU tied for the second most wins in program history (43) and earned its first A-Sun regular season title since joining the conference in 1999. In his prep career, James was a four-year letterwinner in baseball at Clearwater Central Catholic High School.

Along with his play on the field, James earned A-Sun Academic All-Conference honors in three years, was named to the President's Honor Roll as a junior with a 4.0 GPA and to the Dean's List in the Spring and Fall of 2006.

A fixture in the community, he also supported events for Daniel (group home for juveniles), the American Cancer Society and the Ronald McDonald House while also volunteering as a reader at Jacksonville area elementary schools and as a baseball counselor at camps.

A native of Clearwater, Fla., James earned his bachelor's degree in business and finance with a minor in marketing at JU in 2007.
