Prior to JU: Played two years at Chabot Junior College as a shortstop and pitcher for Steve Friend...as a sophomore, he earned all-Coast Conference honors as a utility player after leading the Gladiators to a 33-15 record and a fourth-place finish in the state...as a freshman, he was named all-conference as a pitcher after leading the squad to a 32-13 record and a fifth-place finish in the state...spent one season at Fresno State as a redshirt shortstop for Mike Batesble.

High School: Four-year starter as an infielder and pitcher at Granada High School...led the Matadors to an East Bay Athletic League title and helped the squad reach the North Coast Section Finals as a senior...also earned all-league honors and Tri-Valley Herald Spring Sport "Athlete of the Year" accolades...also lettered in basketball and football.
