March 7, 2000

Jacksonville, Fla. - Jacksonville junior Marcus Bell (Pace, Fla.) was named Trans America Athletic Conference Pitcher-of-the-week for the second straight week after pitching 8.0 innings and allowing no earned runs versus South Alabama on Saturday in a Dolphin victory.

Bell, who has not allowed an earned run in his last 18.0 innings of work was also named one of five Louisville Slugger National Players-of-the-Week by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.  The transfer from Jefferson Davis Community College is now 5-1 with a save in seven appearances with an ERA of 1.21.  In the game versus USA last week, Bell struck out a career-high 14 Jaguar batters, giving him 44 strikeouts and just 24 hits allowed in 37.1 innings of work.
