Former Dolphins faring well overseas

March 21, 2008

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - While the JU men's basketball team was succeeding on the court this past season, the recent alumni were faring quite well too.

Five former Dolphins played overseas this season, playing Finland, Germany, Holland, Cyrpus and Columbia.

"It is great for these young men to get the opportunity to continue to play basketball at the professional level and travel the world," said JU head coach Cliff Warren. "This is an exciting time in their lives and they are enjoying these chances to play basketball for a living."

Two of the former players stand out for their success this season.

Mario Brown was named to the Western division second team after starring for Bergheim in the German league.

Aubrey Conerly was one of the leaders for the FoKoPo team in Finland, leading them to the first division championship with a 24-2 record. Conerly led the league in assists, averaging 5.9 per game.

Joining those two in playing around the globe are Jesse Kimbrough (Aris Friesland - Holland), Ljubisa Vrcelj (Achilleas K. - Cyprus) and Antonio Cool (Piratas - Columbia).
