Michael Jenner named Community First Athlete of the Week

Sept. 11, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior wide receiver Michael Jenner was named the Community First "Player of the Week" after a career night against Gardner-Webb on Saturday.

Jenner led the Dolphins' offense with 10 catches for 103 yards, tying his career highs in each category. With the performance, Jenner extended his streak to 13 straight games with a reception.

"Michael stepped up and made some plays for us on Saturday," said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. "He's a guy we want to get the ball in his hands often to make plays."

Jenner's big night get him closer to etching his name in the record books at JU. He is just 71 yards away from being the sixth player in school history to record more than 1,000 receiving yards in his career.

He now has 74 catches and is fourth on the school's all-time receptions list. He needs 14 more to pass Eldin Ferguson for third place.

The Dolphins are off this week preparing for their home opener against UNC-Pembroke on Sept. 22.
