Men's golf finishes 10th at A-Sun Championship

April 23, 2008

BRASELTON, Ga. - Battling a tough layout, the JU men's golf team wrapped up its 2007-08 season by taking 10th at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

Freshman Tim Adams had the low round of the day for the Dolphins, carding a two-over par 73 as the Dolphins shot a 16-over par 300.

"The guys never quit this week and just grinded throughout the tournament," said JU head coach Jim Taketa. "While we didn't perform as well as we hoped, it was a great learning experience for us, especially for our young guys returning next year."

The Dolphins opened the tournament with a 316, improved by nine shots to 307 in the second round and topped that by seven shots with a 300 in the final round.

The low Dolphin for the tournament was senior Matt Kleinrock, who shot 16-over par for the tournament after a final round four-over par 75.

Right behind him in the team standings was Christian Martin, who shot a six-over par 77 to finish at 17-over par.

Freshman Stephen Healy tied his classmate Adams at 21-over par. Healy shot a six-over par 77 in the final round. Justin Jones carded a six-over par 77 to finish at 22-over par.
