Sebastian Lindholm receives two "Player of the Week" honors
Oct. 1, 2007
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Men's soccer junior forward Sebastian Lindholm scored a hat-trick and added an assist in the Dolphins' 4-1 victory over USC Upstate on Sunday to be named A-Sun "Player of the Week" and Community First "Athlete of the Week." Lindholm scored in the 19th minute to give the Dolphins a 1-0 advantage and doubled that margin just 45 seconds later with a one-timer from 10 yards out. In the 27th minute his perfectly placed corner kick was headed in by senior defender Brian Cocciolo to give the Dolphins a 3-0 lead. Lindholm wrapped up his hattrick in the 82nd minute with a header, sealing the 4-1 win for the Dolphins. The Dolphins had not had a hat-trick since Tommy Krizanovic did it on Sept. 4, 2006 against Georgia State. Lindholm's seven point outlay was the most by any player in the A-Sun this season, beating the next highest score by three points. After starting his career at South Carolina, where he was named Offensive MVP his freshmen season, Lindholm played in 19 games last year for the Dolphins as a midfielder, before moving to forward this year. Lindholm is the second Dolphins forward to receive A-Sun "Player of the Week" accolades as senior Anton Axelsson took home the honors on Sept. 4. Both JU goalkeepers, junior Joey Sanchez and freshman Matt Gilman, have received A-Sun Defensive "Player of the Week" honors this season. Gilman on Sept. 4, and Sanchez on Sept. 24. |
