DeUnna Hendrix enters her first season as a graduate assistant at JU after completing a stellar career at Richmond as a guard, including an NCAA Tournament bid. In four years with the Spiders, Hendrix was a team captain as a junior and senior while also leading the squad to a pair of 20- win seasons in 2004 and 2005. The Spiders also reached the WNIT Final Four in 2004 and earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament in 2005. She appeared in 104 games in her career with 56 starts, including 45 in her final two seasons with the program. A native of Kokomo, Ind., Hendrix earned her bachelor's degree in rhetoric and communications in May of 2007. Among her other experience, Hendrix was an Assistant Camp Director for the Richmond Summer Basketball Camp in 2006 and was also a camp counselor for the event in 2004 and 2005. "We are excited to have DeUnna join our staff," Dunn said. "She had a solid playing career at Richmond and now she is eager to become a part of the coaching profession. I am excited about having the opportunity to work with her." A four-sport athlete in her prep career, Hendrix was team captain, first team all-Howard County, all-area MVP, first team all-state, Associated Press All-State and was an Indiana All-Star at Kokomo High School. She also led the squad to an undefeated season, a 4A State Championship and a No. 14 national ranking as a senior. |
