Jim Taketa resigns as head men's and women's golf coach
May 9, 2008
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jim Taketa has resigned as head men's and women's golf coach at Jacksonville University on Tuesday to spend more time with his family business interests. In his four years as head coach, Taketa oversaw the men's program's first NCAA Regional appearance and Atlantic Sun Conference title in 2006. In 2005, Duncan Stewart represented JU as an individual at the NCAA East Regional and in 2007, both Stewart and All-America Russell Knox competed at the NCAA East Regional. He has been with the University for eight years, serving as the ticket manager for four years before taking the reins of the golf teams. "We appreciate Jim's hard work and dedication over the past four years and wish him all the best in the future," said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. "With golf being such an important part of the fabric of our community, we believe we can build a nationally recognized program in the next few years." No timetable has been set on the hiring of his replacement. |
