JU Softball Complex Renovation Update 3/17

The JU softball team is improving their facilities in a big way, as renovations of the JU Softball Complex began on March 3.

Gone are the days of the portable bleachers, with those being replaced by a grandstand with eight rows of seating. A press box will also be built for the first time in school history.

The construction began with the laying of the cement structure before the framework was put in place. The next step was to build the decking for people to walk on, followed shortly after by the addition of the seating.

"I would like to thank Alan Verlander for his continuing effort in improving every program here on campus," said JU head coach Amanda Lehotak. "This stadium catches us up to our competition and makes us even more attractive to recruits. Also, I hope this makes the alumni proud of where we have come and where we are going as a program."

The construction is being done by Seating Constructors USA Inc. and is scheduled to be complete by the doubleheader on Friday against Belmont at 5 and 7 p.m.
