Katie Kelly named to All-Freshman team

May 7, 2008

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman infielder Katie Kelly has been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference all-freshman team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Kelly, out of West Nassau High School in Callahan, Fla., was one of just three Dolphins to start in every game this season as she split time between shortstop and second base.

"She is very deserving of this recognition," said JU head coach Amanda Lehotak. "She had a great year offensively and stepped up like she had played here before. The good thing is that she is only going to get better."

Kelly led the Dolphins this season in batting average (.317), hits (53), RBI (24), on-base-percentage (.386) and assists (152). She also scored 25 runs, had one home run and was a perfect 2-for-2 in her stolen base attempts.
